About this event

Workshop Description: Formal and informal mentoring relationships often occur for postdoctoral fellows in the laboratory/research group, classroom, and paracurricular groups/activities. Yet when assuming the position of a mentor in a mentoring relationship, what do you consider to be your role to your mentee? How do you clearly convey your approach, values, and expectations for the relationship to your mentee? In this workshop, participants will discuss qualities of good mentorship and common themes in mentoring philosophies as they reflect on their personal approach to mentorship. Participants will have time during the workshop to create a rough draft of a mentoring philosophy to use.
